Created to take a stand against the greatest threat our planet has ever faced, Earth Hour uses the simple action of turning off the lights for one hour to deliver a powerful message about the need for action on global warming.
This simple act has captured the hearts and minds of people all over the world. As a result, at 8pm on the 29 March, 2008 millions of people in some of the world’s major capital cities, including Copenhagen, Toronto, Chicago, Melbourne, Brisbane and Tel Aviv will unite and switch off for Earth Hour.
Christchurch Unplugs for Earth Hour
Switch off your lights and join us for Earth Hour Unplugged in Christchurch’s Cathedral Square from 6pm – 10pm on Saturday 28 March 2009.
We have an exceptional line-up of local musicians; all passionate about the cause and ready to entertain you with four hours of continuous music. So gather your friends and family, bring a picnic blanket and sit back, relax and enjoy … as the tempo builds during the countdown to 8.30pm when the lights on the Cathedral will be switched off to mark the beginning of Earth Hour.
Hera Performs 6.30-7.00 Pm. *click here for more info and full lineup
